We All Have a Choice

Sometimes the choice for my blog is simple.  I re-visit my poems, and always the right one pops out!  I sometimes hear a word rolling around in my head, as I did this time.  The concept was choice.  I thought I had written a poem about choices, and I certainly was grateful when I found it.

After reading the poem a few times, I realized that no matter how small or big a choice is in our daily lives, there are four things we need to consider.  God, love, compassion, and forgiveness.  Maybe not all four at once, like when choosing gum, love, and perhaps compassion.  But, in the more meaningful, life-changing choices, we must use all four when considering a choice, like a job, a relationship, or purchasing a house.

I know that a lot of people will think forgiveness or even compassion hasn’t anything to do with changing jobs or purchasing a home.  Sometimes people struggle with deciding because they haven’t forgiven themselves about something, or they won’t consider compassion because of experiences from their past.

I have always done a Pros and Cons list, especially when it’s a huge decision.  The ultimate and final test of making a choice even with a Pros and Cons list is what is listed first on the four things to consider—God-God’s guidance-God’s wisdom.  When listening to God, the other three components all fall into place.

We beg for an answer, we ask for guidance, but the one big thing that happens is we sometimes do not listen.  Or, if we hear, we do not like the answer!

Choices

The smallest choice

May create the biggest mistake.

Or the most beautiful experience.

Let each choice be guided and made with:

Love

Compassion

Forgiveness,

And, above all else,

Knowing that God

Gives us the best choices,

When we listen
