Thank You for Everything

I see posts, and I hear people wishing passed on loved ones “Happy Birthday in Heaven.”

When I realized Charles’s birthday is this Friday, January 10, I wanted to do more than wish him a “Happy Birthday.” 

For me, it’s like a “Thank you for being born day.”  Thank you for being who you were and how you helped me realize my potential and how you appreciated me, and thank you for “putting up with me” for 24 years, just two months and a few days shy of 25 years. 

Even during the hardest parts and the painful parts in the last days, thank you.  I became a better person and dared to be who I am.  The writer and spiritual seeker you always encouraged me to be.  Losing you made me realize life is indeed too short.

So, Happy Birthday and Thank you!

When I Met You

My spirit was shattered.

My soul was torn.

You loved me, and you taught me,

You encouraged me,

And brought me here, to this day.

I was oblivious to the lessons you taught,

Until

You were gone.

I am grateful for

The encouragement, the insight, the lessons,

The laughter, the hard times,

And for when (as the song says),

“You lifted me up”.

I am grateful for I now see

Your special love and lessons,
