I Lived a Blessing, Only to Remember Another and Another… (Revised and Reposted)

Divine Guidance (and probably a little help from dad)

It was nearing 4:00 pm and I was tired, but something was nagging in my brain to go to the grocery store.  I rarely go to the store in the afternoon, unless I run out of an ingredient.

I grab my purse, open the garage door and put the key in the ignition, and nothing happens. And only a faint noise of clicking.  My battery was dead, gone, kaput!

My first thought was to call my son who was probably busy with grandbabies and left a message about a battery charger.

Then within my head, I heard “call AAA”.  I have had this service for years but never used it because I never had the need before because I always had someone to call and someone to fix my car.
Awesome experience, by the way!  Also, I was muttering thank you constantly for the fact my car was sitting in my garage and not in the parking lot of the grocery store!

The young man tested and started my car, and showed me the results of the testing.  Hmmm, I kept thinking this battery is probably under warranty because I had only bought it a year or two ago.  He suggested I go back to where I bought the battery now the car was running.

So as the AAA truck pulled away, I pulled my car out and began my little trek to Tate Boys.
I had bought the battery in Owasso, but Tate Boys was also now in Tulsa, thank goodness!

Okay, I know a little about cars because my dad was a super-duper mechanic---it was his life, really.  Anyway, as I was driving, I noticed all the little lights on the dash were flickering.  I thought, whoa, not good.  The first stoplight I came to I heard the words, “put the car in park and give it a little gas.”  Sure enough, the flickering stopped.

I decided on a route that would be the best in case the battery decided to completely crash on me.  I reached Tate Boys and explained the situation.  There were no problems until they tried to start the car and even their battery charger would not wake up my battery!  They told me I was lucky to have gotten the car to them.  So, they pushed my car into a bay.

I was in the middle of having a bad moment when I kept getting the thought “make sure of the warranty and ask about the alternator.”  So, I did that!  Sure enough, I had bought the battery in 2018 and it was under warranty. Also, they said they were just then checking the alternator.  I began muttering thank you again!

Waiting for my car, I experienced this moment where everything faded away and I was in Texas and I was working on the old beat-up Ford Pinto I had.  Yes, I was working on the car and in-between I would run back up to my apartment and talk to my dad on the phone.  He walked me through replacing a timing chain on my car.  No cell phones back then either!  Plus, it was all long distance on my parent’s dime.  Long story short, that was the beginning of the end and one of the biggest blessings in my life.

My mind shifted to Charles, the other mechanic in my life.  He kept our vehicles running and rarely did I have to call him for help.  But, when I did, I knew everything would be fine.  And I certainly never had to work on my own car.

My thoughts were interrupted by someone handing me my keys.  At that moment, I was consumed by the fact I was experiencing a blessing.  Remembering the blessings in my life helped me see the blessing right in front of me.  And I began the muttering thank you again!

And, wondering if my dad and husband were guiding me and watching over me!
