“Hate Cannot Drive Out Hate…”
Collectively Our Light Shines
I am a day late in posting, but I've had much to think about
since the week end. I am having a hard
time wrapping my heart and mind around what happened in North Carolina. I keep asking in my head, “Where do these
people come from, how can they have so much hatred in their hearts, and can
this really be happening in 2017?”
What creates hatred like this? In specific individuals, I have seen how the
hatred came from tragedy or abuse or both, but the collective hatred of the
World War II era and the now times of Isis and America’s own brand of Nazi
bigotry is beyond what I am able to understand.
How do people buy into that type of so-called supremacy?
I have known from my core all my life that we are all one
with God. Each of us and we are all
loved equally and it never has been in my mind that it could be otherwise. I wasn't raised going to church regularly,
but it’s just been “there” inside me guiding me and never allowing me to
consider hating others.
These questions have lain heavily on my mind and a poem came
from it after praying. It makes no
difference if anyone agrees with me or not, this is just part of my soul’s
reflection. I do believe that as
individuals, we can collectively, change the hearts of many, through prayer.
We are the Light
I send love,
To those living in
hatred.
I send forgiveness,
To those living in
the darkness.
I send prayer,
To those unaware of
God’s light and love.
I prayed for an
answer.
The answer was,
Show them how to love
as I love them.
You are the light.
