Positive Creates Positive, Negative Creates Negative

Good Morning and Good 2017 to Everyone

My first blog of 2017 and no, I don’t have a poem today.  I only have words of belief and hope and lessons learned.

Recently I posted something on Facebook about a speech made by Meryl Streep.  I shared it from my granddaughter.  I had negative responses from others and I deleted the entire post.  Everyone has a right to their own opinion, but I don’t like anything negative on my FB.  I respect everyone’s opinion and believe me there is more than enough negative on both sides politically to suffocate the world.  When I like or post, it’s my own opinion and I do not ever expect everyone to agree with me.
I am trying to make a concerted effort to not respond or share or think or speak negatively about politics anymore.  I did respond this morning and I felt the negativity welling inside me.  So, when I found the opportunity, I counteracted it with something positive.

As I look back over my life and my beliefs and opinions I see in between all the dislikes and outrage and I hear me saying, “I truly believe  good  is in EVERYONE” (not screaming, just making a point.)  I do believe that, and if I do, then even those politicians I do not like, do not agree with their actions or their policies deserve my love.  Yes, love.

What has brought me to my senses?  I saw a beautiful article about George W Bush this morning (right after I responded with negativity in my heart).  So?  Well, my history with George W Bush was not a pretty one.  I disliked this man intensely.  I’m not going into the many ways or events that made me feel this, but just as I said I disliked him intensely.  But, in the back of my mind, I always wondered how he could do and say those things that riled me so and still be the son of Barbara Bush, whom I really admired?

Barbara Bush was not in the prime light of politics, just standing beside her husband and raising her kids and grandchildren and I identified with her.  When she did speak, she was forthright and edgy for an older woman.  She didn’t always agree with her husband and said as much, she also didn’t always agree with her sons.  Barbara Bush on more than one occasion showed her views in facial expression when they were speaking----I loved that.  For my generation, she showed class and opinions and had a wise heart of a mother.  So, because of her, I kept asking the question about her son George W.
Then, this morning, I read an article, see a picture and my whole opinion of mankind is confirmed.  No matter what George W did that I didn’t agree with, I saw the inner truth of the man.  He now paints beautiful portraits of “Wounded Warriors” he has become acquainted with.  I was right and I was wrong, and God Bless you, Barbara Bush.

Now we are in another kind of political warfare and no matter how much I hate the rhetoric or dislike the man, his attitude, his demeanor, his words, I have been praying for him.  Praying that the good I believe in everyone will come shining through.  As I said to a friend this morning, “You can love someone and not like their actions or choices.”

I saw a glimpse because of his apparent concern for Autism after appointing Bobby Kennedy, Jr for a committee to study the relation of  Autism and the safety of vaccines.  Just a glimmer and I pray it will turn into a fully shining side of him.   Whatever his reasoning is about this issue, let’s pray it will shed light on a very important issue.

As we move forward, let us hold close to our hearts: love, compassion, and the belief there is good in everyone.  Positivity creates more positive and negativity creates more negative.  Please, choose the former, everyone!  No matter who you support politically, stop being negative, be supportive and full of love!  If you see a Facebook   post you don't agree with, pray and move on.  Only we as spirits of this great universe can stop the division.
