I Am Arriving, Little by Little

I Am Beginning to "Get It"

My journaling provides me an outlet to "discuss" with myself (without speaking out loud!)  I awoke wondering and pondering about the Advent season.  I wrote a list of words describing my feelings from childhood until now describing my feelings of Christmas.  I began my list with Hope and Joy and ended to the present with Respite and Release.  The entire gamut of emotions and descriptions of feelings were on my list.  I came to the conclusion that as with writing poetry, emotions and feelings for me are not the same for each individual.  I wanted to write a poem about Advent and I realized while writing that what Advent means to me is not what Advent means to another.  Oh, yes, in the context of the birth of the Christ, it means many of the same things, Faith, Love, Hope, Joy for most of us.  However, those advent words are truly personal in the end.  As is our relationship with God.  I have to give a big thank you to my teacher and friend, Mary Anne Harris.  Mary Anne's sermon this week and her teaching of our class "The Artistic Life" and all who share our class once a month, have helped me "Get It" a little more.

Arrival

My Faith moves me forward,
To the reassurance of Love.
Allowing me to find Peace in surrender
And Joy in the Divine light of the
Advent of the Christ.
