Not a Fan of the Heat!

I admit freely I do not like the heat or summer.  I've always said the people who want to "winter in the warm states" are crazy!  Let me "summer in the cool states"  I have over-heated twice in my life and now simple walks are miserable unless it's pitch dark outside.  That soon will not be an option, because 80+ at 10 PM, well, you get the picture!  Woke up this morning with this:

 

Oklahoma Heat

I peek out the door

With anticipation of fresh air.

Six AM can’t be hot.

Oklahoma heat

Oklahoma humidity

Surround my head.

Minutes of walking the dog

Sweat pours into my eyes.

My dog pants and looks

Wearily at me.

Saying, “Let’s go home.”

Workers languish

Children burn

Plants thirst and wilt.

Hoping for the end of

Oklahoma heat.
